In 2015 members of Yes!Delft, ECE (Rotterdam) and UtrechtInc (University Incubators) founded DutchSE.
Mapping & Bringing together the Dutch Student Entrepreneur Community
At first, the objective of DutchSE was to boost networking between student of the incubators of technical and business fields, which functioned separately and rarely interacted with each other. Later, the realization of the degree of isolation of the hubs and the benefits that could result from bringing them together c
The Bus Trip, a tour around the entrepreneurial hubs of the Netherlands, in which the student boards of the incubators spend an entire day together attending talks, sharing lunch & networking, was created to fulfill this purpose.
Evolution
From Network Facilitators to advocating for Student Entrepreneurs
As communication between the student incubators solidified, they soon realized it’s members shared similar struggles.
Pressing problems in all student entrepreneurial hubs included Intellectual Property Rights disagreements between academic start-up founders & Universities, as well as lack or blurry legislation concerning student entrepreneurship.
At the same time there was no regulatory body or institution representing the student entrepreneur community at a governmental level, and the path to navigating University IP policies was a tough, at times costly and
